OCSL General Manager Position

Shanna Slater has been the OCSL Office Manager for the past 9 years and was working in the office for more than 2 years before that as Office Administrator. As any of you who have read my annual Chair’s Report will know, I have relied on Shanna to take control of the day to day, and year to year, running of the OCSL.

But all good things must come to an end and I must advise you that Shanna has notified the OCSL League Management Board (LMB) that she will be leaving our full time employment on 25 April 2014 to pursue a new challenge. I am sure you will join me in thanking Shanna for a job well done and wishing her well in her future endeavours. Typical of her concern and dedication to the OCSL, Shanna has offered her services after 25 April in a part-time capacity to help her replacement as he/she learns about the many tasks that need to be performed in successfully running the OCSL.

The OCSL LMB has set up a 3 person hiring committee that will run a competition to find a person for this position as soon as possible, hopefully acquiring this person’s services before Shanna leaves her full time position. The hiring committee has reviewed the requirements for this position and is proposing that the position be retitled “General Manager” since the duties include much more than running the office. This announcement listed for this position below and all clubs are asked to work with us to identify eligible candidates. The announcement is posted on the OCSL website here and will also be advertised at institutions that have a Sports Administration program.

Position with the Ottawa Carleton Soccer League


The Ottawa Carleton Soccer League (OCSL) is seeking a full time General Manager to manage the administration and operations of the OCSL.


Candidates with the following qualifications should consider applying:


-very strong accounting, organizational, computer and interpersonal communication


- 3-5 years of relevant experience in sports administration or administration

-basic knowledge of HR principles, administrative procedures, and office IT Systems

-knowledge of Quicken and\or QuickBooks (or equivalent Accounting software),

MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Internet Explorer

-experience working with volunteers & volunteer boards, and bilingualism are considered assets
