What the OCSL player needs to know: Note for Recreational Players - Although one should strive to comply with the rules around tape on socks and colour of undershorts, we understand this is recreational soccer. It will be enforced in the competitive divisions. 

 

OSA Discipline Policy Changes

Summary of important changes: 

1) For players on a Regional team - Yellow Card accumulation suspensions occur when the player has earned 5 yellow cards (previously 3). At 5 and 7 Yellows, a 1 game suspension, 8th and 9th = 2 game suspension. 

2) The max suspension length for foul and abusive language directed at MO after being dismissed is down from 12 to 8 games. 

Regional Rules 2017

Summary of Rule Changes: 

1) Team Applications are due 1 week prior to the OSA Deadline. Team Withdrawals: 

a) March 1 to March 31 - Team entry fee

b) April 1 to April 30th - Team entry fees plus fine of $500.00 

c) After May 1 - Team entry fees plus fine of $1000.00 

2) Teams may call up a maximum of 6 players for a game. Players may play up to a regional team unlimited times in a season. 

3) Play Ups can be completed online through the OCSL website or on the paper form and submitted to the Match Official prior to the start of the game. 

4) Games that are canceled or abandoned for reasons of weather, fields or match officials will be rescheduled by the league. The teams will be given 2 dates that are within 2 weeks of the original game. Teams will have 72 hours to select their preferred date. 

5) Each team is permitted to reschedule 2 games in a season. The request must be made at least 10 days in advance of the game. Agreement of the new game details must happen within a week of the request. 

6) If a team defaults a game, a result of 3-0 will be entered and the defaulting team will be deducted 3 points from the standings in addition to any fines. 

7) A team will be defunct if they default 2 back to back games that are at least 6 days apart or if they default 3 games over a season.

 

District Competitive Rules for teams playing C1 to C5.

Summary of Rule Changes for the 2017 Season: 

1) Teams withdrawal deadlines: 

a) May 1st to 15th -liable for team entry fees plus a fine of $500.00

b) After May 15th - Full team fees plus a fine of $500.00 to $1000.00 

c) After June 1st - Full team fees plus a fine of $1000.00

2) Play Up permits can be done through the OCSL website or on the paper form and submitted to the Match Official. 

3) District Competitive teams can call up 4 players during a game from one or any combination of lower level teams. A player can only play up to a DC team 6 times in a season. 

4) C1 and C2 teams can designate a reserve team. This must be a competitive team from within their own club. A team can use 6 reserve players per game and there is no restriction on the number of times a reserve player can play up to that team. 

5) When games are canceled or abandoned because of the weather, field or match official issues, teams will be given 2 dates that are within a 2 week period of the game. Teams then have 72 hours to selected their preferred date. 

6) District Competitive teams may only request one reschedule 1 game during the season. They must make the request at least 10 days prior to the game and the new game details must be agreed upon within a week of the request. 

7) A team will be declared defunct if they default 2 back to back games that are more than 6 days apart or if they default 3 games in a season. 

8) Red and Yellow cards that are earned in a game that is abandoned will stand.

Summary of Rule Changes:

1) Team withdrawal deadlines:

2) A Recreational Team may call up a maximum of 4 players for a game from one or combination of lower teams. A player is restricted to 6 call ups in a season. 

3) Any game that is canceled or abandoned for weather, field or match official issues will be rescheduled by the League. Teams will be sent 2 dates that are within 2 weeks of the original date and team will have 72 hours to select their preferred date.
